Rambam - Sefer HaMitzvos
As Divided for The Daily Learning Schedule

Positive Mitzvot 26, 12

  Day 25Day 27

Positive Mitzvah 26: The Priestly blessing
Numbers 6:23 "In this way, you shall bless the Children of Israel..."

"Have a good day!"

"Take care and be well."

"All the best."

Quite often, we say and hear these things.

Wishing people well is one of the ways we can show them that we care.

HaShem cares about us very much. He wants to bless and grace us with all that is good.

He commanded the priests to act on His behalf, granting us His blessings.

Today, even though the Beit HaMikdash is not yet rebuilt, the priests stand before our congregations in synagogues and recite this holy blessing of prosperity and peace.

Positive Mitzvah 12: Wearing Tefillin on one's head
Deuteronomy 6:8 "And they shall be for symbols between your eyes"

From the age of thirteen, Jewish boys are commanded to put on Tefillin every weekday, expressing their dedication and love for HaShem.

Tefillin are square leather boxes containing parchments upon which portions of the Torah are hand-written by a scribe.

They are worn on the head showing that our thoughts should be connected to HaShem, just as the tefillin are tied onto us.

For hundreds of years -- perhaps since the beginning of Creation -- a piece of the world has been waiting for your soul to purify and repair it. And your soul, from the time it was first emanated and conceived, waited above to descend to this world and carry out that mission. And your footsteps were guided to reach that place. And you are there now.
